Delete your account and data

You can delete your Eckoa account at any time. This page explains how, what happens to your data, and what to do if you cannot open the app.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open Eckoa and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings (the last tab).
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

What is deleted

  • Your email address and sign-in, including your protected password.
  • Your user record, the likes you gave and the suggestions you sent.
  • The link between you and your echoes, reports and moderation records.

What stays, and how to remove it

Your published echoes stay in the app, but they become permanently anonymous and disconnected from you: nobody, including us, can tell they were yours.

If you want your echoes removed too, delete them first: go to Journey → Reflections, tap the menu (⋯) on each echo and choose Delete my echo. Its translations are removed with it. After the account is deleted we can no longer tell which echoes were yours, so we could not remove them for you.

Some records are kept in disconnected form (for example, moderation records that protect other people from abuse) and server logs are kept for a limited period, typically up to 30 days. We may keep data longer when the law requires it.

Delete only some data

You can delete any of your echoes individually, at any time, from Journey → Reflections (or from the Today tab, for today’s echo), without deleting your account.

Cannot open the app?

Email wzcortex@gmail.com from the address of your account with the subject “Delete my Eckoa account”. We will confirm it is you, delete your account, and reply within 30 days (usually much sooner). To also remove your echoes, say so in your email, and we will delete them before closing the account.

For other data rights, such as getting a copy of your data, see the Privacy Policy.
