Terms of Use
Last updated:
These Terms govern your use of the Eckoa app and website. Please read them. By creating an account or using Eckoa you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Eckoa.
About Eckoa
Eckoa is a service operated by Eckoa. Each day it shows one reflection and lets people publish short, anonymous answers called “echoes” of up to 200 characters, read other people’s echoes, like them and translate them.
We may improve, change or discontinue features. Eckoa is free today; if we ever add paid features we will tell you clearly before they apply to you.
Who can use it
You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent where you live if it is higher, and able to form a binding agreement. You may not use Eckoa if we have suspended or removed your account for violating these Terms, unless we have allowed you back in writing.
Your account
You must provide a real email address that you control and keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at wzcortex@gmail.com if you think someone else has accessed it. You may publish one echo per reflection.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you write. By publishing an echo, you give Eckoa a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, check (including with automated tools), translate and distribute it within the service, so that the service can work. This licence ends when you delete the echo, except for copies kept for a short time in backups and what is needed to meet legal obligations.
You are responsible for your echoes. You promise that you have the right to publish them and that they do not break the law, the Community Guidelines or anyone’s rights.
Echoes are shown to other users without your name, but they are public inside the app. Do not include personal details about yourself or others.
Rules
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines. In particular, you will not:
- publish unlawful, hateful, threatening, harassing, sexually explicit or deceptive content, or content that sexualizes minors;
- share contact details (email, phone, social media handles), links, advertising or spam, or try to get around the checks, for example by disguising such information;
- impersonate others or misuse the service to harm, track or identify people;
- use bots or automated means to read, collect or post content, or interfere with the service or its security;
- copy, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows it.
Moderation and automated tools
Echoes are checked automatically before they are published, and may also be reviewed by people, especially after a report. We may block, remove or limit content, and suspend or close accounts, when we believe these Terms or the Guidelines were broken, or to protect people or the service.
Automated tools make mistakes. If you think a decision was wrong, write to wzcortex@gmail.com and we will review it. Translations are machine-generated, provided for convenience, and may contain errors.
Reporting content
Use the report option inside the app to flag an echo. To report illegal content or to send a notice about content that infringes your rights, email wzcortex@gmail.com with: where the content appears, what is wrong or which right it infringes, and your contact details. We will review it and act as the law and these Terms require.
Not professional or emergency help
Eckoa is a space for reflection. It is not therapy, medical advice or an emergency service, and nobody monitors echoes in real time. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency number or see our safety and support resources.
Ending your use
You can stop using Eckoa and delete your account at any time from the app settings; see Delete your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires, or if continuing would put people or the service at risk. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as ownership, disclaimers and liability) survive the end of your use.
Our rights in Eckoa
The Eckoa name, logo, app, website and software belong to Eckoa or its licensors. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable permission to use the app as intended. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of our rights to you.
Disclaimers
Eckoa is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure, and we do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy, quality or safety of echoes written by users or of automatic translations. Opinions in echoes belong to their authors.
Limits on liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, Eckoa is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months or USD 100.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or the mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with its date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Eckoa after the change, you accept the new Terms; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts of Brazil, without taking away any mandatory right you have, as a consumer, to bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live or to rely on that country’s mandatory consumer protection laws.
